Our client is a real estate investment company in the Boston area looking for someone to head up the internal communications area. The Manager, Internal Communications plays a central role in development and execution of  internal communication and employer marketing strategies and plans for a leading alternative asset manager with a nationwide portfolio and more than 30 offices across the U.S. The position reports to the Senior Director of Marketing & Corporate Communications and works under the guidance and direction of Human Resources. The ideal candidate has proven success in collaborating across matrixed organizations, developing and implementing communication plans, creating content across different mediums, excellent written and verbal communication skills and program/project management skills.


  • With the Senior Director, Marketing and Communications, and with input from Human Resources, conceptualize, develop, execute and measure internal and employee communications.
  • Develop first drafts of employee communications materials including company-wide memos, articles, program and event collateral and specific social media copy.
  • Develop and maintain an internal employee communications calendar that includes all annual events and activities that are offered by the company and its departments to employees.
  • Maintain and enhance the Careers and Recognition sections of the company website.
  • Maintain, develop and enhance the company’s newly launched employee portal, including long-term technical development, editorial planning, content creation and analytics and program measurement.
  • Develop and publish employee magazine, which includes sourcing story concepts and content ideation.
  • Manage all aspects of company-wide Town Halls including planning, logistics, messaging, content development, technical coordination and measurement.
  • Evolve company’s employment branding and marketing, execute this plan through company’s web-based (digital), social media, collateral, and other communication channels. Integrate company’s employment branding into key human resource programs including:
    • Employee benefits.
    • Employee engagement (annual survey and initiatives).
    • Employee onboarding.
    • Employee offboarding (retirements).
    • Community service events.
    • Wellness.
    • Management and professional development offerings.
    • Annual performance management processes.
    • Annual employee awards.
  • Partner with HR on programming around Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives.
  • Develop communications (plans and materials) that support the company-wide roll out of new programs, services and industry and/or media recognition.
  • Develop communications (plans and materials) around M&A events in which employees may be on boarded or off boarded.
  • Develop senior leadership communications and messaging to employees.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing or HR Management.
  • Five or more years of experience in employee communications and marketing or human resources.
  • Experience in financial services, asset management, investment management or real estate industries preferred.
  • Excellent organization skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience conceptualizing and developing content across different mediums.
  • Experience in change management.
  • Proven success as a project and program manager.
  • Thrives in changing/fluid environment and has the ability to be self-sufficient with the prioritization of tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail, and ability to effectively communicate with business partners and management regarding communications-related matters.
  • Ability to protect sensitive or confidential information.
  • Ability to remain positive and resilient under pressure.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID prior to your start date and provide proof of your full vaccination on your date of hire.
