The opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of PR & Communications to join their leadership team at a pivotal moment in the company's history. This role will be instrumental in building and leading the external communications function as the company prepares for a significant market event in early 2025.

  • Build and lead external communications: This is a unique opportunity to establish and shape the external communications function for a major player in the building materials industry.
  • Direct collaboration with the CEO: This role will work closely with the CEO, serving as a key advisor on all communications-related matters. The position is located just down the hall from the CEO's office, ensuring frequent interaction and involvement in high-level strategic discussions.
  • High-visibility position: As a critical member of the leadership team, this role will have significant influence on the company's direction and public image.
  • Strategic importance: With the upcoming market event in 2025, this role will be at the forefront of shaping the company's narrative during a transformative period.

Key responsabilities

  • Establish and lead the external communications function for the company
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive external communications strategy
  • Serve as a strategic communications advisor to the CEO and executive team
  • Lead all aspects of public relations and corporate communications
  • Oversee internal communications programs
  • Drive sustainability and environmental communications efforts
  • Collaborate with global teams to align messaging and strategy
  • Manage relationships with media, investors, and key stakeholders
  • Build and manage a communications team

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in PR and communications, preferably in the manufacturing area
  • Strong background in public company communications
  • Experience building and leading external communications functions
  • Experience with sustainability communications
  • Excellent writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to execute tactically
  • Experience building and leading communications teams
  • Knowledge of investor relations and financial communications a plus
  • Ability to work effectively with C-level executives and serve as a trusted advisor
