About the Role
We're seeking a Media & PR Partner to develop and lead communications strategy for the holding company and its portfolio of operating companies. This is a unique opportunity to build a media function from the ground up, working as a solo contributor with significant creative freedom and strategic ownership.
The ideal candidate has experience as a business journalist at a reputable publication and brings a strong network across media, venture, and technology circles. You'll craft compelling stories, secure media placements in top-tier outlets, and drive visibility for leadership and ventures across the portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute comprehensive media and communications strategy for the holding company and portfolio companies
Build and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, and producers at top-tier business, tech, and venture publications
Craft compelling narratives that translate complex technical and business concepts into engaging stories
Secure article placements and features in reputable publications to raise awareness and elevate brand positioning
Lead thought leadership initiatives for executive leadership, including op-eds, interviews, and speaking opportunities
Create PR initiatives and campaigns tailored to different portfolio companies' needs and growth stages
Draft press releases, media briefings, and launch communications
Coordinate crisis response and ongoing brand reputation management
Identify and secure speaking opportunities, panels, and features at key industry events
Utilize existing media connections and actively expand network to amplify media platform
Required Qualifications
3-8 years of professional experience as a business journalist or reporter at a reputable publication (e.g., The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Financial Times, Forbes, Business Insider, The Information, or similar)
Strong, established network of connections with journalists, editors, and media professionals
Exceptional writing and storytelling skills with proven ability to craft compelling narratives
Deep understanding of business media dynamics and PR best practices
Experience covering technology, venture capital, AI, or business topics preferred
Healthcare journalism experience is a plus
Ability to work independently and take initiative in a remote-first environment
Strategic mindset with strong creative capabilities
Work Environment
